Team Landroids US Open Results

Team Landroids (7th grade students Karlin Yeh, Stanley Cheung, Gregory Vuong, Jeffrey Dong, Gage Farestad) received the highest FIRST Lego League (FLL) honors at the US Open Championship in Ohio last weekend. After three days of competitions, the team received the 1st place Champion’s Award, which is the most prestigious award for best performance in Research Project, Robot Design, and Team Work. The team also received the Wright Paterson Air Force Base Founder’s Award for outstanding educational and community outreach and the Battelle Award for Innovation in Science, which includes a $6,000 STEM scholarship. Teaming up with Indiana and Hawaii, the team took the 1st place Robot Alliance Award, and 6th place in Robot Performance out of 60 State Champions teams from the US. Karlin Yeh was awarded a Multiple Gracious Professionalism acknowledgment. The Landroids’ beach erosion project received high praise. For the 2008-09 FLL season, Livingston’s Landroids, coached by Pearl Hwang and John Yeh, is one of three 1st place FLL international/national Champion’s Award winners in the world, selected from 13,700 teams.
