The Livingston Committee for Diversity is sponsoring a weekend for Martin Luther King.

On Sunday the Livingston Committee for Diversity has arranged for a bus leaving from the municipal building at 12:00 PM to take interested people to hear Rabbi Capers Funnye speak at Congregation Ahavas Sholom located at 145 Broadway, Newark, NJ. The Rabbis” theme will be “Dr. Martin L. King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel Awakening New Dreamers: Race, Religion and the Renewal of Dr. Martin Luther King”s Dream for the 21st Century.” There will be an Question and Answer session Immediately following the talk. Seating is limited so please call K. Hines at 973-979-0016, if interested in attending.

On Monday, Jan 17, 2011 a continuation of the tradition of service in M. L. King’s memory will be held at Livingston High School ,30 Robert Harp Dr. in the cafeteria from 1 0 AM to 1 PM. As in the past The League of Women Voters will be thee to register new voters, Churches, Girl Scouts and other organizations in town will be collecting food , prom gowns and accessories and making various items to be distributed to charities.
